
Jennifer Griffin
Jennifer Griffin is one of our
own and lives with her husband and two children in Highland Village.
She has been with the Lewisville Lake Symphony for 20 years and brings a
wealth of experience to our orchestra.
Ms.
Griffin began her violin training at the age of 10 in San Antonio, Texas
under the tutelage of Florence and Dominick Saltarelli. She learned
very quickly and soon became the Concertmaster of the San Antonio Youth
Symphony as well as a violinist in the Texas All-State Symphony. She
and her family moved to Ohio where she studied with Carol Baxter. She
immediately won the position of Concertmaster of the Dayton Youth
Philharmonic and a position in the Ohio All-State Orchestra. At only 16
years of age, Jennifer landed her first professional orchestral position
as a violinist in the Dayton Philharmonic.
Jennifer
attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she
studied with Marla Mutschler, a highly respected violin pedagogue. She
was Concertmaster of the University Symphony and the University Chamber
Orchestra as well as a violinist in the professional Greensboro
Symphony. While at the university, she won the school’s prestigious
concerto competition with the demanding Bruch violin concerto. She
graduated Magna Cum Laude and then received a scholarship to continue
her studies at the internationally known University of North Texas
School of Music. Once again she won the Concertmaster position of the
University Symphony. While at North Texas, she studied with Phillip
Lewis.
Since being in the North Texas
area, Jennifer has played with several local orchestras. She is
currently Concertmaster of the Dallas Summer Musicals orchestra, and our
own Concertmaster. She played eight seasons with the
Dallas
Opera Orchestra, she’s a regular sub in the Fort Worth Symphony, and was
formerly the Principal Second Violin of the Richardson Symphony. As one
of the most sought-after freelance musicians in the area, she has
performed with such entertainment greats as Harry Connick,
Jr., Andrea Boccelli, Luciano Pavarotti and
many others. Jennifer also keeps busy at local recording studios
recording commercial jingles, radio and television spots, and other
projects. She has also recorded with the internationally famous Nashville String Machine.
In addition to all her
professional performances, Jennifer is also a full-time staff member of
the Worship and Music Ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church where she
is Concertmaster of the church orchestra, featured solo violinist and
the Instrumental Music Assistant.
