Jennifer Griffin

Jennifer Griffin is one of our own and lives with her husband and two children in Highland Village.  She has been with the Lewisville Lake Symphony for 20 years and brings a wealth of experience to our orchestra.

Ms. Griffin began her violin training at the age of 10 in San Antonio, Texas under the tutelage of Florence and Dominick Saltarelli.  She learned very quickly and soon became the Concertmaster of the San Antonio Youth Symphony as well as a violinist in the Texas All-State Symphony.  She and her family moved to Ohio where she studied with Carol Baxter.  She immediately won the position of Concertmaster of the Dayton Youth Philharmonic and a position in the Ohio All-State Orchestra.  At only 16 years of age, Jennifer landed her first professional orchestral position as a violinist in the Dayton Philharmonic.

Jennifer attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied with Marla Mutschler, a highly respected violin pedagogue.  She was Concertmaster of the University Symphony and the University Chamber Orchestra as well as a violinist in the professional Greensboro Symphony.  While at the university, she won the school’s prestigious concerto competition with the demanding Bruch violin concerto.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude and then received a scholarship to continue her studies at the internationally known University of North Texas School of Music.  Once again she won the Concertmaster position of the University Symphony.  While at North Texas, she studied with Phillip Lewis.

Since being in the North Texas area, Jennifer has played with several local orchestras.  She is currently Concertmaster of the Dallas Summer Musicals orchestra, and our own Concertmaster.  She played eight seasons with the Dallas Opera Orchestra, she’s a regular sub in the Fort Worth Symphony, and was formerly the Principal Second Violin of the Richardson Symphony.  As one of the most sought-after freelance musicians in the area, she has performed with such entertainment greats as Harry Connick, Jr., Andrea Boccelli, Luciano Pavarotti and many others.  Jennifer also keeps busy at local recording studios recording commercial jingles, radio and television spots, and other projects.  She has also recorded with the internationally famous Nashville String Machine.

In addition to all her professional performances, Jennifer is also a full-time staff member of the Worship and Music Ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church where she is Concertmaster of the church orchestra, featured solo violinist and the Instrumental Music Assistant.
