Elena Dorozhkina
A
native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Elena Dorozhkina began to study piano
at the age of five. In her hometown, she attended the Herzen State
Pedagogical University (graduated in 2000) and the Rimsky-Korsakov State
Conservatory (graduated in 2003). Elena taught piano and was a
collaborative pianist at Herzen University.
She is a participant and prizewinner of several international piano
competitions, including the International Competition of Young
Performers, XXI Century Art (Kiev, Ukraine, 2002), St. Petersburg in the
Mirror of Musical Culture of the XX Century—The First International
Competition of Musicians (St. Petersburg, Russia, 2002), and XIV
International Robert Schumann Competition for Pianists and Singers (Zwickau,
Germany, 2004). Elena also was invited as a collaborative pianist to the
International Competition of Young Opera Singers of Elena Obraztsova
(St. Petersburg, Russia, 2003).
In the summer of 2006, Elena took part in the Prague International Piano
Master Classes (Czech Republic). She took lessons and masterclasses with
distinguished professors from the United States, Germany, the Czech
Republic, and Russia. Elena also has performed at the historical palace
Villa Bertramka and the Baroque Recital Hall of the Jan Deyl
Conservatory (Prague, Czech Republic.)
As a 2006
winner of the University of Northern Iowa School of Music Concerto
Competition, Elena Dorozhkina performed on February 28, 2007 with the
UNI Orchestra under conductor Rebecca Burkhardt at the Great Hall of the
Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. In May 2007, she finished her
MM in piano performance at the UNI School of Music (studio of Sean
Botkin). Currently, Elena is pursuing her doctoral degree in piano
performance with Pamela Mia Paul at the University of North Texas
College of Music.
