Korean students from UNT's College of Music create an evening of musical
fantasies and wonderful Neapolitan songs
The event starts with a Mozart sonata, travels
through a fantasy version of Bizet's 'Carmen' and ends with the aria 'O Sole Mio.'

Kevin Park
Korean tenor Kevin Park made his professional
operatic debut in MADAMA BUTTERFLY with the Mercury Opera Rochester
under renowned directors Benton Hess and Adelaide Bishop. A recent
graduate of the Eastman School of Music, he received a performer's
certificate, the highest distinction for outstanding performers.
He performed several leading roles while he was at Eastman: Ruggero in
LA RONDINE; Fritz in L'AMICO FRITZ; Rodolfo in LA BOHEME; and Chevalier
in DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES. In addition, he sang with the Eastman
Philharmonia and performed oratorios throughout the East Coast.
He is currently pursuing his master's degree in vocal performance at the
University of North Texas, and studies with Linda Di Fiore. He recently
performed Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA, and will be performing Alfred in DIE
FLEDERMAUS and his second title role, in Cavalli's L'EGISTO, in early
2007. He is the recipient of prestigious Margot Winspear Opera
Scholarship at UNT, the highest honor at the college of Music.
He participed in the Wolf Trap Opera's studio young artist program
this summer.
Sihyung Kim
Violinist,
Sihyung Kim was born in South Korea,and started her musical education on
violin at the age of six. She earned her Bachelor degree from Yonsei
University in Seoul. She attended and performed several Music Festivals
in France and Korea, and studied with Dong-suk Kang and Kyung-sun Lee.
After graduating University, She was the member of the Euro-Asian
Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Nan-Sae Gum. In 2003,
She came to the United States. During her Master
studies, She was the member of UNT Graduate String Quartet, and got the
3rd place winner for the Chamber Music International Competition in
2004. She received Master degree in violin performance at the University
of North Texas in 2005.
Currently,
She pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at
the University of North Texas under the direction of Julia Bushkova.
Since 2005, She has played in the Plano Symphony Orchestra and Irving
Symphony Orchestra.
Su-hyun Choi
A
native flutist from South Korea, Su-hyun Choi, graduated from Chungnam
National University. She received her Master degree at University of
North Texas; majoring in flute performance under Dr.Mary-Karen Clardy
and minor in orchestral conducting, under Dr.Clay Couturiaux.
Su-hyun Choi was a member of Quadrivium Flute Quartet, which was a First
place winner group of 2004 Chicago Flute Club Chamber Music Competition
and National Finalist of 2003-2004 MTNA Collegiate Chamber Music
Competition. Also, her flute Quartet performed as guest performers at
Western Illinois University in 2004.
Su-hyun participated in flute master classes with
world-class artists such as Trudy Kane, Jonathan Keeble and Kathleen
Chastain.
She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts with Dr.Mary-Karen
Clardy under the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies’ Scholarship and
she is also the member of UNT Symphony Orchestra.
Christina Kim
Christina
Kim started her musical training with piano at age of 5 in Korea. After
she trained at SunHwa Art middle school and high school, she recieved
her bachelor's degree in piano performance from YonSei University in
Seoul, Korea.
She came to U.S. in 1991 and pursued her master's degree
in composition specializing in computer music with Professor Philip
Winsor at the University of North Texas.
Seven years later, she pursued
her second master's degree as the first student of Collaborative Piano
at the University of North Texas. She studied collaborative piano with
Dr. Steven Harlos and recently graduated in May this year.
She has been
working as a collaborative pianist for several studios and
performing many recitals with students and faculty from other schools at
the University of North Texas. She recently participated in a music
festival in DaeGue, Korea playing with Dr. Susan Dubois and Professor
Eugene Osadchy of University of North Texas this summer.
