2010 Winners and those in past years
The
Vernell Gregg Competition has gained a wide
reputation that attracts entries from across the U.S. and winners from
several states.
The Competition involves a
two-step process. In the first round, contestants are asked to submit a
performance audiotape or CD. These are evaluated and a portion of the
contestants were invited to participate in the second round where they
perform live before a panel of distinguished judges. The judges, in
addition to a Grand Prize Winner, choose place winners in junior and
senior categories.
The judges may award three Grand Prizes
if warranted by the level of talent. If that happens, the $1,200
prize money will be split equally among the Grand Prize Winners.
The Competition requires entrants to perform
compositions from a specified repertoire. Exceptions from the
repertoire will rarely be granted.
