Accompanists

Contestants must provide their own accompanist or use one provided by the symphony for an additional $75. The accompanist charge must be paid upon the invitation to perform a live audition.

The 2014 competition is open to pianists at an accredited university, college, or conservatory that are between the ages of 18 - 30 on the March 8, 2014 audition date.

Competitors may not be students of any of the judges.

The preliminary round will be judged from high quality recorded videos posted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Tuduo by the applicants. A completed application form and $75 application fee are also required. The deadline for all submissions is 12:00 midnight January 15, 2014.

The decision of the pre-screening jury is final.

Contestants will be notified of the first round results by email by January 31, 2014.

Contestants chosen for the Final Round will perform a live audition before a panel of distinguished judges. No more than 8 contestants will be invited to the Finals.

The final round auditions on March 8, 2014 are between noon and 6:00 pm. Contestants will be notified of their audition times in advance. The First Prize winner will be selected by the judges after the auditions are completed on March 8. A second and third prize winner may also be named. If the judges decide there are no contestants who meet the standards of the competition, a winner will not be declared.

The decision of the judges is final.

Transportation and accommodations are the responsibility of the contestants and of the winners performing in Symphony Series and International Chamber Series concerts.

First Prize money awarded to the Grand Prize Winner will be presented at the September concert.

Second Prize cash will be mailed to the winner immediately after March 8, 2014. If it is possible to arrange a recital on the Symphony's Chamber Series, an additional $300 will be awarded at the time of the recital.

If for any reason the first place winner is unable to perform, the first place prize money and concert appearance will go the second place contestant, and the second place prize money and Chamber Series opportunity will go to the third place contestant.

The Symphony and the College of Music will hold a reception in the Green Room, adjacent to the Voertman Hall after the event.

The auditions will be held at the Murchison Performing Arts Center, University of North Texas College of Music, Denton 76203.

There is a non-refundable application fee of $75.

The Lewisville Lake Symphony
 International Competition for Piano
 Ages 18 - 30

First Prize: $2,000 and includes a performance with the Lewisville Lake Symphony at the opening concert of the 2014/2015 season in September 2014.

Second Prize: $500 and includes the opportunity to schedule a recital on the symphony's International Chamber Series for an additional $300. If for any reason the First Prize winner is unable to perform on the September 2014 concert, the prize money and performance rights will go to the Second Prize winner, and the Second Prize cash and Chamber Series opportunity will go to the third place contestant.

Third Prize: the third place runner-up will move up to Second Prize in the event the First Prize winner is unable to perform on the September 2014 concert.
