Competitions
The Lewisville Lake Symphony is proud to sponsor two competitions
designed to promote and encourage emerging talent.

In 2013 the Lewisville Lake Symphony launched its International Competition for musicians 18 - 30 years of age who are planning a professional career in music. The annual competition will rotate between the competition for Piano on even-numbered years and the Competition for Strings in odd-numbered years. The first competition for piano will be held in 2014.

First Prize is $2,000 and includes an invitation to perform with the Lewisville Lake Symphony at the opening concert of the 2014/2015 season in September 2014. Second Prize is $500 and includes the opportunity to schedule a recital on the symphony's International Chamber Series for an additional $300.

The Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition has two Divisions. The Junior Division is for Grades 6 through 8 and the Senior Division is for Grades 9 through 12. One or more Grand Prize Winners, who might come from either Division, share the $1,000 and the opportunity to perform with the all-professional Lewisville Lake Symphony at its February concert. It is open to piano, strings and winds. There are two rounds. The first is judged from CDs submitted by contestants. The second is a live audition before a panel of distinguished judges.
